Since my birthday is Tuesday and my husbands was last week, we decided to go away for a weekend. We went to Sanibel, Florida to do nothing but relax, and that's exactly what we did. The hotel was super cute. We stayed at the Island Inn, which has been around since 1895! It was updated, but still had the feel of an older hotel in it's quaintness. We had a screened balcony over looking the Gulf of Mexico and the pool.
There is a really beautiful lighthouse on the island. The lighthouse was build also in the late 1800's and is visible from the bridge crossing onto the island. It's part of a natural preserve so you can't go up into it, but I honestly don't know if I'd want to. It looks scary.
We also went for some ice cream at a local place called Pinocchio's. They have homemade ice cream and gelato's and with each ice cream, they put an animal cracker on top! David's started to melt a little faster than anticipated and he almost lost his ice cream.
The beaches are beautiful and sand dunes are amazing. We saw all kinds of things that I had never seen before. There were really interesting shells, and we even saw a live sea urchin. It had washed up and was still moving. Me being the sucker I am for all things living, I threw it back into the ocean in hope that it will survive.
...and there were the sunsets.
So now play time is over and it's time to get back to work. I have ideas for colorways I'd like to create based on this trip I took, so there may be some interesting things to come very soon.
