I've had a fairly awesome weekend so far, filled with fibery goodness and friends. I have updated the Etsy shop, so check that out for the newest items. On Saturday there was a Betty field trip. We went to Just Imagiknit early that morning, and I must say, that shop is awesome! Too bad it's an hour and a half from me, but they are so friendly, and their selection is incredible! They have all kinds of fibers from more exotic ones like sugar cane and silks, to traditional ones like wools and cottons. And they have a very friendly, knowledgeable staff. When we walked in, their group was sitting around the table in the middle of the store knitting, and they just struck a conversation with all of the girls and made us all feel very welcomed. I would definitely go back to that shop!
While I was at the shop, I bought yarn to start on Bijou. I purchased this pattern, and it's been sitting in my Ravelry queue for some time now. So while I was at the shop Saturday, I found some really nice South West Trading Company Yin yarn for the body portion of the top and Jade Sapphire Lacey Lamb for the shoulders and sleeves of the pattern. I'm going to do a gauge swatch in the near future and will let you know how it goes. I think the gauge swatch is going to be very important for the piece, and I'm sure there's going to be a certain amount of customization to make it fit just right.
For lunch we went to Wings Plus and had us some yummy hot wings, fries and beer while we talked and laughed all afternoon. And for desert we went for cupcakes. The place really has no name, it just has a sign that says "Hooray! Cupcakes!", so it's offically been dubbed the "Hooray Cupcakes!" place.
Their cupcakes were really, really good! I had a Key Lime cupcake, and brought home a red velvet, plain chocolate for David, and S'mores for Dante. Big, big YUM!
I also knit some of the Sleepy Monkey blanket. I would give you a better picture, but I didn't want to wake the sleeping monster. I have joined the edging for the last time and am working on finishing up the last of the edging on this. I want to get some bigger projects off the needles before I officially start on the Bijou pattern. Sleepy Monkey is a good one for that as I'm so close to being done with it already. I'm also thinking it's time to revive the Frost Flowers & Leaves shawl from time out. It's been long enough, and I think at this point it's sorry it was bad, so I'm going to give it a chance. Since I got my harmony's a while back, I'm thinking I'm going to switch out the needles that are currently on it for a set of harmony's and knit it with that. I'm not sure why this would happen, but with the Addi's I was using, I would knit on it for 5-10 minutes and the needles would get sticky. I don't know if it's something with the needles or with the yarn, but I think the Harmony's would help alleviate that problem.
As for my little socks, she's doing great! She's being really curious, really hyper, and has been a bit pain in the behind lately, but I guess that's all part of being a kitten. She's decided she loves my yarn, tries to eat the band on my wheel while I'm spinning, and has discovered the joy of toilet paper.
